Hertfordshire Named 'Best Region To Raise A Family' Boasting A £33,000 Average Salary

Young families should consider moving to Hertfordshire, after it was named the best county in the UK by the price comparison service uSwitch.

A healthy 81% of residents aged between 16 and 64, earn an average salary of £33,435 as well as reaping the benefits of top exam results and plenty of sunshine.

In local schools, 64% of pupils achieve five or more A*-C grades at GCSE including English and maths, and the area boasts top broadband speed for efficient city living.

The index, which ranks 138 local authorities on 33 important family life factors, named Cambridgeshire as the second best county for new familes and Scotland’s East & North Ayrshire mainland the worst.

All top three regions, situated in the East of England, benefit from their close proximity to local amenities, taking its residents an average of nine minutes to get to their GP and just under ten minutes to reach their local primary school – compared to almost 12 minutes elsewhere in the country.

Those living in the East of England also manage to spend more quality family time together, clocking an average of four hours 50 minutes each day.
